Aquatic-Safe Stock Tank 2026

We purchased a stock tank a few years ago to keep fish while we were cleaning our pond. We tried keeping some small fish in it long-term, but we knew the zinc coating would be a problem. The fish would always do fine for months and even years, but eventually, they would die of zinc poisoning.

We wanted another turtle, but the fences aren't secure anymore since two were redone and don't have the turtle fencing on the bottom. We decided to use Pond Shield to coat the stock tank and keep a turtle in it. It was a process to get the galvanized metal prepped and ready, but we did it! We chose the clear coating and are letting it sit before adding a new turtle!

UPDATE: We are done with the tank and got a cute little turtle!
